Annakuta Maha Mahotasava

Govardhana Puja Festival – June 22nd

Twenty seven years ago, Srila Gurudeva inaugurated the worship of Sri Giriraja Govardhana in New Braj, flooding this land with his own Braj mood. It wouldn’t be a New Braj festival if we didn’t conjure memories of Srila Gurudeva bathing Giriraj with milk and honey onto our own Govardhana Hill, and so this year our  Govardhana Puja festival will take place on Saturday Morning, June 22nd.

Last year we all managed to cook up over 700 astounding preparations and as always, we love trying to beat our own record. If you’d like the opportunity to please the endlessly sweet Giriraja-Govardhana, then we’d love for you to get involved! As there won’t be any spare ingredients on the festival site and the nearest markets are 45+mins away in Three Rivers, Visalia, Woodlake, and Exeter, forward planning is advised. Your offering doesn’t need to be complicated, dried fruits, nuts, etc are wonderful, but if you fancy cooking up a storm, please check in with Govinda Priya didi or Sravan prabhu for kitchen scheduling, and you can always speak to local residents about using their cooking facilities. Some ingredients will be available by donation on Friday and Saturday in the Pavillion area and requesting ingredients from devotees heading to town is possible, but we highly recommend coming prepared.

If you wish to sponsor a large preparation for the Annakuta feast, or for any other meal, please contact Manjuvasini didi at: newbrajsevateam@gmail.com

Transportation to
the Festival Site

The best way is to connect with other devotees* through Facebook who own cars or who are renting vehicles and then carpool to the Festival site. We really appreciate your help with this for those who need assistance for ride coordination from Visalia, please contact: newbrajsevateam@gmail.com. (a fee of $20.00 per person for gas will be appreciated for the transportation) if any rides become available from the Fresno Airport a fee of $40 per person will be appreciated This is a very limited seva that we can offer, and pickups will be coordinated with other arriving guests. There will be only one pickup per day, and we will do our best to facilitate this. It is possible that you could have to wait or even spend the night in town if you arrive too late in the day.

Ride Sharing

*If you can help by offering rides from Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Fresno or Visalia please clomment your schedule in the New Braj Facebook page.
